Individual user support

Users who face problems when using the services that we offer can contact our support email address egs-cism@listes.uclouvain.be so that their problem is taken care of by one of the team members. If the issues lies with an infrastructure that we do not manage, we can help finding and interacting with the correct person.

Training

Every year in Fall, we co-organise with the CÉCI a full set of training sessions with topics ranging from the basics of Linux to parallel computing on GPUs. See more details on the CECI training web page.

Documentation and videos

Besides the present website that offers documentation users can refer to in using our services, we also provide multiple videos on our Youtube channel. Besides the hour-long videos from our training sessions, you will find shorter videos addressing specific topics such as for instance configuring SSH access using a Windows computer or the fists steps submitting jobs to Slurm.

Software install

Popular software are pre-installed by the system administrators and managed with environment modules. Type module avail for a list of installed software on a cluster. Other software can be installed upon request, or compiled by the users themseleves.

Free and open source software

Open source software is most of the time compiled from sources, using Easybuild when possible. Users can install their own version in their home directory. See more information on the CÉCI website

Commercial software

We enable access to the following commercial software:

  • Intel Cluster Studio : to compile software and get the most of the CPU’s capabilities. It is available on all CISM-hosted clusters.
  • Matlab : Installed on the interactive machines. The recommended usage is to compiled Matlab code to C code on the interactive machines and submit the compiled code to a cluster for scale-out.
  • SAS (in collaboration with SMCS) : Available on the SMCS machines for use with a.o. SAS Entreprise Guide.

The above software can be used by all CISM users on the CISM computers on which they are installed.

We also have software that is available only to CISM users who have a valid software licence. Contact us for more information.
